About ISAL

 

Image of man at the computerThe Instrument Synthesis & Analysis Laboratory (ISAL) is a human and technology resource dedicated to innovation in instrument architecture and design for NASA and its clientele. The ISAL and the Integrated Mission Design Center (IMDC) are integral components of Goddard Space Flight Center's Integrated Design Capability (IDC).

Using expert personnel, a proven design process, a comprehensive set of tools, and a state-of-the art facility, the ISAL provides instrument teams and scientists tailored design services from discrete analytical/design tasks to full instrument design.

ISAL Mission
 
The ISAL's Mission is to:
  • Provide a capability for quick and efficient trade studies of instrument architectures and concepts with the ability to support different instrument maturity levels.

  • Streamline and optimize instrument system design for pre-formulation and formulation development

  • Transform the instrument design process by revolutionizing GSFC's capacity to create, design, validate and operate new remote sensing instruments.
